Before you go

  • Check the rules: your employer’s policy, tax implications and visa requirements if you work from another country.
  • Back up your connection: a mobile hotspot or local SIM, plus offline copies of the files you need.
  • Secure your devices: full-disk encryption, a password manager and a VPN on public Wi-Fi.

Your workspace

A proper chair and a screen at eye level matter more than a beautiful view. A laptop stand and an external keyboard cost little and save your neck.

Time zones and teams

Publish your working hours in your calendar and chat status. Protect a few hours of overlap with your team, and move everything else to written, asynchronous updates.

Remote work fails when “available anytime” quietly becomes “working all the time”.

Boundaries

End the day with a ritual — a walk, a closed laptop, a changed room. Without a commute, you have to create the line between work and home yourself.
